3 days since treatment began

So far, so good. Carrying this little pump around is not so fun, but I can deal with it. I've been able to manage the nausea and the only other side effect that I've noticed is drowsiness. I slept a lot yesterday. On Thursday and Friday, I had a home nurse come out to help me administer the IV fluids at home. It was so nice to be able to do this at home. The IV was connected to another pump and lasted about 3 hours. I'm amazed at how well organized the treatment schedule is. I think the hardest part of the treatment so far has been staying out of the sun. After all, I love the summer sun! Oh well, there's quite a bit of other things for me to do. I've been playing guitar, reading, emailing, playing games with the kids, sleeping, talking on the phone.

If you think of any other diversions for me, good books, cool apps for my IPad, whatever, please let me know.

    Jon, Karla, Jessica, and jake,
Thank you for sharing with us so we can do all we can to be a support to all of you during this challenging time. I have a great deal of faith in your choices for treatment and the care you are receiving. A difficult journey but one you will succeed in!!!
I have located the book we spoke of ...Challenge Cancer and Win!..Step by Step nutrition action plans for your specific cancer. As with many resources you will review and gather information regarding, when in doubt touch base with your oncologist to get his feedback on any wholistic or natural routines that you are trying to choose from during this process.
Your in our prayers and we are there for you!!
Please drop Jake and Jessica over anytime and at a moments notice if needed just to get a rest and diversion for them. Thank you for this blog so we can keep updated and know how we may intervene to be there for you and your family!

    Love

  2. Jon,
Just think of what a summer away from the sun will do for your skin :) The shade is more comfortable these days anyway. If you're looking for an inspirational book to read I have heard that It's Not About the Bike by Lance Armstrong is really good.
I am so happy you are doing this blog to keep us all informed on how you are doing and it will hopefully lessen the burden on you and Karla of updating everyone. You have done an amazing job of making sure there is no elephant in the room and that is an amazing gift that you haven given your friends and family.
You and Karla are wonderful parents and the strength, courage and determination of your entire family will help all of you through this trying (actually shitty) time.
We love you and hope to see you all soon!
    Jill

  4. Hey, it's Jo speaking for our side of the Feldman clan. Dean and Luke and I are sending you all the love and support that can fit through the net.

I am also here on your blog to answer the call for diversions. I am all about diversions! Isn't there a word in Spanish called diversion or something that means "to play?"

SO, first, I second the motion for "It's Not About the Bike." I am usually a fiction reader, but Armstrong's story was so riveting and Powerful.

Also, shows, shows shows. If you never got hooked on "Lost" now would be such a good time! Dean is hooked on "Damages" and "Dexter." For something a little on the lighter side, I am in love with "Chuck" and "How I Met Your Mother." Finally, we love watching "So You Think You Can Dance" on Wednesday and Thursday nights. The music and the dance and the choreography are exciting and enthralling.

Hope you get some diversion from this! We love you so much!
